About Us
Chronological Error was founded in 2024 on the Prahran end of Chapel street - where we remain today. What started as a consignment store where locals could give their clothes a second life, is now (put simply) a secondhand marketplace that doesn’t necessarily take to any particular labels (relating to our garments OR our business).
We work with just one local supplier who allows us to handpick clothing at the end of its supply chain that we can together - save from landfill. These pieces could be true vintage, Y2K, or even something you saw in your favourite designer store last month. We never know what we’re going to get and neither do you. We believe that this is exactly the beauty of it, as it keeps our customer base beautifully diverse and their minds (hopefully) open to new ideas.
Chronological error was founded on the ethos that we don’t NEED anything that isn’t on the secondhand market. Any occasion you could ever think or dream of can be accommodated by a secondhand garment. Not only is it better for our wallets and our planet but it opens us up to what can be one of the ultimate forms of self expression - intertwining our values with historically rich clothing that prompts communication without a single word.
In a place where our main objective is to hold onto things for as little time as possible, the only thing that always remains is our intention to disrupt the chronological order of fashion - whether that be it’s ‘eras’ or the way in which society consumes it.
