Refund policy

Chronological Error – Return & Refund Policy

At Chronological Error, each piece we offer is vintage or pre-owned, carefully curated for its individuality and character. Because of this one-of-a-kind nature, all sales are final and we do not offer refunds or returns for change of mind, fit, or general wear consistent with age.

We strive to describe and photograph every garment accurately so you can purchase with confidence. Please read all descriptions, condition notes, and view images carefully before completing your order.


1. Product Condition

All items are second-hand unless explicitly stated as new or deadstock.
We grade pieces using our in-house scale — Deadstock, Excellent, Great, Good — to communicate expected signs of wear.
Subtle imperfections, fading, or other age-related marks are considered part of the item’s story and are not treated as faults.


2. Damages & Issues

Please inspect your order immediately upon delivery.
If an item arrives significantly misrepresented, damaged in transit, or has a defect not shown in our photos or description, email info@chronologicalerror.com.au within 3 days of receiving your package.

Include:

  • Your order number

  • Clear photos of the issue

  • A short description of the problem

We’ll review the claim and, if approved, arrange a replacement (if available), store credit, or refund at our sole discretion.
Returns sent back without prior approval will not be accepted.


3. Exceptions / Non-Returnable Items

We cannot accept returns for:

  • Change of mind or sizing preference

  • Normal signs of wear or age on vintage garments

  • Sale or discounted items

  • Gift cards

  • Intimate garments or accessories worn close to skin

All items are sold “as is.”


4. Exchanges

As each item is one-off, we cannot process traditional exchanges.
If your return claim is approved, you may receive a store credit to use toward another piece.


5. International Orders

International customers may be subject to import duties or taxes. These fees are the buyer’s responsibility and are non-refundable.


6. European Union – 14 Day Cooling-Off Period

If your order is shipped to the European Union, you have the legal right to cancel or return your order within 14 days of delivery for any reason.
Returned items must be in the same condition received — unworn, unaltered, and with any original tags. Please contact info@chronologicalerror.com.au to initiate an EU return.


7. Refund Timeline (for approved cases only)

Once your approved return is received and inspected, we’ll notify you by email.
If eligible, your refund will be processed to your original payment method within 10 business days.
Please note that bank or credit-card processing times can vary.

If more than 15 business days have passed since your refund was approved and you haven’t received it, contact us at info@chronologicalerror.com.au.


8. Summary

Please make selections carefully.
We do not issue refunds or exchanges for change of mind.
Refunds are considered only when an item is materially different from its online description or severely defective.

Chronological Error reserves the right to deny any claim that does not meet these conditions.
